About Us

Lily & Sol is the manifestation of a longtime dream to start a small business. After being a corporate lawyer for almost 10 years, I came to the conclusion that it was now or never—I could continue chugging along at a job that paid great but brought me consistent stress and my heart just wasn’t in, or I could take a big risk and give the whole owning-my-own-business thing a try and see what happens! And so here we are!

So why travel bags? I became a mom 4 years ago and since that time, as I’m sure all parents can relate to, a lot of things have changed. Now my husband and I have two little ones, ages 4 and 2, and they are our whole world…plus, we’ve got one more on the way! But in living that mom life I’ve learned a few things—well, a lot of things, but the ones relevant to this story are: 1) traveling with kids is a whole different ballgame (a.k.a. a fiery disaster in some cases), 2) not all travel bags are created equal, and 3) there’s room for improvement when it comes to bag options out there for busy parents.

Our first focus was spending a lot of time and effort on creating the most helpful diaper bag we could—the everyday bag that can handle any situation, whether daily errands or activities or long trips, flights and vacations. Ultimately, we plan to expand into a variety of designs and bag types that will suit varying families’ needs and we can’t wait to show you what else we have in store!

And one thing you will always find in whatever we create, which is something that was super important to me when starting this business, is little hidden messages of inspiration. I think in life generally, but especially in life as parents, it’s so incredibly easy to get caught up in the chaos and stress and feel lost, or like you’re just not doing or being enough. And I can say firsthand, especially in those initial years after having a child, sometimes you really just need something to give you a quick reminder that you’re doing great. So it’s just a small thing, but at least to me a powerful one, and in case you don’t hear it from anyone else—our bags are going to be there to remind you.

As I sit here writing this, I can’t help but think about how excited I am to share our products with like-minded moms and dads (and grandparents, nannies, aunts, uncles, caretakers, or really anyone that can use a super functional bag!). It’s honestly a really amazing experience to see ideas in your head become real, tangible things in your hands. I truly hope that our products bring you joy and confidence and a sense of calm to your crazy.
